Description
DungeonQuest is a re-imagining of the classic board game of dungeon exploration for 1-4 players. Set in the vibrant fantasy realm of Terrinoth (first popularized by Runebound), DungeonQuest retains the peril, tension, and brutality of the beloved original game while updating both mechanical and thematic elements. Players take on the roles of brave (or foolish) heroes willing to brave the legendary dangers of Dragonfire Dungeon. Fortune awaits those able to venture into the dragon's lair...
In DungeonQuest, Players must guide their heroes through the twisting halls of Dragonfire Dungeon in pursuit of unimaginable riches hoarded by the Dragon Lord Kalladra. Whoever can amass the most wealth and make it out of the dungeon before the closing of the doors seals their doom will emerge victorious. However, merely surviving the harrowing dungeon is a feat all its own...

Challenging. Frustrating. Nasty.
Three apt words to describe this game.
But I like it :)
I’ve played four solo games and I’ve yet to get a character out alive. But I believe this to be an attraction of the game (albeit a strange one!).
The components are good – good art work and images, good quality cards and dungeon tiles, counters and playing pieces. The characters dovetail nicely with other Terrinoth based games such as Runebound, Runewars and Descent (all characters in DungeonQuest have character cards for these other games), which was a bonus for me (I’m a big Terrinoth fan).
The rules are fairly straight forward – easy to read and learn, and there’s a good DungeonQuest following on BoardgameGeek.com so no problems with clarifying rules (I’ve only found a few to clarify so no problems there). The game suits solo players and works well.
I like the time limit to the game, and the fact that no two games are alike. I like the randomness of the game – drawing cards to search a room, opening a door, searching a corpse, walking into a crypt, even when fighting a monster you randomly draw combat cards including one of four special Power cards unique to your character.
It’s not a complicated drawn out game. This is good because it makes you want to play it again to at least get SOMEONE out of there alive with loot!
