Libyan Fucilieri Platoon - IT752
In 1940 the bulk of the Italian infantry in Libya and on the Egyptian frontier was made up of colonial troops recruited from the native population of Libya.
These native Libyans hadn’t experienced truly modern war before, were hindered by logistics problems, and were commanded by officers whose ideas hadn’t changed since World War I. The Libyans had some combat experience, but most of this came from fighting poorly armed tribal insurgents.
