Add speed, discipline, and the devastating impact of heavy cavalry to your Grand Cathay army with the Grand Cathay: Jade Lancers for Warhammer: The Old World. This multipart plastic kit builds 10 Jade Lancers, veteran mounted warriors capable of delivering powerful charges while retaining the discipline and tactical flexibility expected of the armies of Grand Cathay.

Drawn from the soldiers of Cathay's great cities, Jade Lancers are experienced cavalry trained to fight across a surprisingly diverse range of battlefields. While their armour, weapons, and mounts make them formidable shock troops in open terrain, their training also prepares them for battles fought in the narrow streets, bridges, tunnels, and surrounding countryside of their homeland.

Where conventional heavy cavalry might struggle to maintain cohesion in confined or difficult terrain, Jade Lancers are trained to operate effectively under challenging conditions. They can drive their attacks through narrow alleyways, across bridges, through passages in city defences, and across dense vegetation or deep mud. This flexibility reflects their role not only as battlefield cavalry but also as defenders of Grand Cathay's vast and heavily fortified cities.

On the tabletop, Jade Lancers provide an Armies of Grand Cathay force with a mobile and hard-hitting cavalry option. Their speed allows them to respond rapidly to developments across the battlefield, supporting infantry formations, threatening exposed enemy units, and positioning themselves to deliver decisive charges where they are needed most.

The kit builds 10 Jade Lancers and provides flexibility in how they are organised. You can assemble all 10 miniatures as a single substantial cavalry regiment or divide them into two separate units of five. This gives Grand Cathay generals the option of concentrating their mounted strength into one formation or spreading their cavalry across different areas of the battlefield.

Importantly, the kit includes sufficient options for each unit of five Jade Lancers to have its own command elements. Each group can include an optional champion, standard bearer, and musician, allowing the models to be fielded as two independently equipped regiments without sacrificing their command options.

This flexibility also makes the kit useful when expanding an existing Grand Cathay collection. A single large regiment can provide an imposing cavalry formation capable of accompanying the main battle line, while two smaller units can provide greater battlefield coverage and support different sections of your army.

The miniatures capture the distinctive visual identity of Grand Cathay, combining heavily equipped mounted warriors with the ordered military appearance of the Jade soldiery. The included Grand Cathay Jade Warriors and Lancers Transfer Sheet provides an extensive selection of waterslide transfers for adding additional markings and decorative details to the finished miniatures.
