Legio Custodes: Support Battle Group brings specialised support to the Emperor's golden warriors in games of Warhammer: The Horus Heresy. Designed to reinforce a Legio Custodes army with additional battlefield assets, this boxed set is an excellent choice for collectors looking to expand beyond the core of their force and add further tactical options to their Talons of the Emperor collection.

The Legio Custodes are far more than ceremonial guardians of the Imperial Palace. During the Great Crusade and the Horus Heresy, they took to the battlefield as an extraordinarily powerful military force, equipped with some of the finest weapons and wargear available to the Imperium. Where the massed Legiones Astartes fought as armies numbering in the tens of thousands, the Custodes operated as individually exceptional warriors supported by sophisticated vehicles, war machines, and specialised units.

A Support Battle Group provides an ideal way to broaden a Legio Custodes collection. Rather than simply adding more of the same warriors to your army, support elements allow you to develop a more varied force and give your golden host the resources needed to confront the heavily armed infantry, armoured vehicles, dreadnoughts, and other formidable threats encountered during the wars of the Age of Darkness.

For established Horus Heresy players, the set is particularly useful when developing a larger Talons of the Emperor force. It can complement the elite infantry and characters at the heart of a Custodes army, helping create a collection that reflects the extraordinary range of military assets available to the Emperor's personal guardians.

The Support Battle Group also makes an impressive hobby project. The distinctive gold armour of the Legio Custodes provides a striking foundation, but there is considerable scope for individual interpretation. Rich metallic finishes can be contrasted with deep reds, black, leather, polished blades, power weapon effects, and carefully picked-out details to create the opulent appearance associated with the Ten Thousand.

Weathering provides another way to give the force a distinctive appearance. While Custodes can be painted in immaculate parade-ground condition, subtle scratches, dust, heat staining, battle damage, and grime can instead portray warriors and war machines engaged in the brutal campaigns of the Horus Heresy. Scenic bases featuring shattered Imperial architecture, industrial ruins, ash wastes, or devastated battlefields can further reinforce the Age of Darkness setting.

Whether you're expanding an existing Legio Custodes army, developing a larger Talons of the Emperor collection, or looking to add specialised battlefield support to your golden host, the Custodes: Support Battle Group is an excellent addition to a Warhammer: The Horus Heresy force.
