Battleforce: Chaos Space Marines Warband gathers a brutal assortment of corrupted warriors, daemon-infused war machines, and expendable mortal followers into a hard-hitting force for Warhammer 40,000. Containing 34 multipart plastic miniatures, this substantial Battleforce is an excellent way to begin a Chaos Space Marines army or reinforce an existing collection while saving money compared with purchasing the included kits separately.

Chaos Space Marine warbands vary enormously in their composition. Some are remnants of the Traitor Legions that turned against the Imperium during the Horus Heresy, while others are renegade Space Marines who have subsequently pledged themselves to the Ruinous Powers. Their armies can include everything from ancient Heretic Astartes and fanatical mortal cultists to hideously mutated warriors and daemon-infested machines. This Battleforce captures that variety with a mixture of elite infantry, numerous followers, and some particularly destructive mechanical monstrosities.

Leading the warband is a Lord Discordant on Helstalker. This sinister Chaos commander rides into battle upon a nightmarish mechanical beast and is particularly well suited to fighting alongside the warband's daemon engines. The Helstalker can be equipped with either a baleflamer or autocannon, alongside a choice of magma cutter or techno-virus injector, providing useful options when assembling your warlord.

Accompanying the Lord Discordant is a Venomcrawler, a grotesque fusion of daemon and machine capable of scuttling across the battlefield to bring its weapons and monstrous limbs to bear. Alongside it are 2 Obliterators, heavily mutated Heretic Astartes whose bodies have fused with their weapons. Together, these units give the warband a formidable selection of heavy hitters capable of supporting the advance of the infantry.

The core of the force consists of 10 Chaos Space Marine Legionaries. These corrupted Space Marines combine the durability of power armour with a broad selection of ranged and close-combat weapons, allowing the unit to be configured for different battlefield roles. They are well suited to fighting over important objectives while the more specialised elements of the warband hunt down priority targets.

The Legionaries kit includes numerous weapon and modelling choices, including components for assembling an Aspiring Champion. The Champion can be equipped with a plasma pistol, boltgun, or bolt pistol, together with a power fist, power axe, or power maul. Two different backpack toppers provide further opportunity to personalise the leader of the squad.

Marching ahead of their transhuman masters are 20 Chaos Cultists. These fanatical mortals provide the warband with numbers, allowing them to occupy ground, screen more valuable units, and throw themselves into danger in service to the Dark Gods. Up to four of the miniatures can alternatively be assembled as Cultist Champions, with different heads, weapons, and suitably corrupted mutations.

Taken together, the contents provide a varied Chaos Space Marines force with a strong combination of numbers, durable power-armoured infantry, daemon engines, mutated heavy support, and an imposing mounted commander. The Legionaries and Cultists can contest objectives while the Lord Discordant, Venomcrawler, and Obliterators bring considerably greater destructive power to the areas of the battlefield where it is needed most.

The box also includes a Chaos Space Marines Infantry Transfer Sheet containing 364 waterslide transfers. These include symbols associated with the Black Legion, Alpha Legion, Thousand Sons, Iron Warriors, Word Bearers, and Night Lords, alongside additional corrupted markings and Chaos sigils. This provides plenty of options for finishing your miniatures in the colours of an established Traitor Legion or creating a warband of your own.

Whether you're pledging yourself to the Dark Gods for the first time, expanding an existing Heretic Astartes collection, or looking for a varied selection of Chaos miniatures as a new hobby project, Battleforce: Chaos Space Marines Warband provides an impressive force ready to spread corruption across the battlefields of the 41st Millennium.
