Assault Sicily 43: Gela Beachhead is a tactical-level wargame set during Operation Husky, the Allied invasion of Sicily in July 1943. In the early hours of 10 July, American Rangers stormed ashore at Gela while British and Canadian forces landed further east. Airborne troops had already dropped behind enemy lines the night before to secure vital positions and delay Axis counterattacks. What followed was a fierce struggle for control of Sicily – the gateway to mainland Europe and a turning point in the Mediterranean theatre of the Second World War.
