Atlantic Sentinels: North Atlantic Convoy Escort 1942–43 is a solitaire, tactical-level wargame that places you in the role of the Senior Officer commanding an Allied convoy escort group during the most dangerous phase of the Battle of the Atlantic. Set between 1942 and early 1943, the game captures the period when German U-boats posed the greatest threat to Allied shipping, attacking convoys both individually and in coordinated wolfpacks.

• Command the Convoy Escort – You are responsible for protecting merchant convoys typically ranging from 40 to 60 ships as they cross the North Atlantic. Your escort group usually consists of 4 to 10 vessels, and careful placement is required to provide effective front, rear, and flank protection against submarine attacks.
• Meaningful Tactical Decisions – Escort placement is complicated by convoy size, limited assets, and the need to balance coverage across multiple threat vectors. Escorts equipped with Type 271 radar play a critical role in detecting and countering U-boat attacks, forcing players to make constant risk-versus-reward decisions.
• Progressive Campaign and Upgrades – As the game progresses, your Escort Group may receive additional equipment such as improved radars, HF/DF (High-Frequency Direction Finding) systems, and potentially extra ships. Air support can also become available, though until CVE “jeep carriers” arrive, the infamous Black Pit in the central Atlantic remains a highly dangerous zone.
• Historical Forces and Integration Options – Players may choose from nine historical Escort Groups, including five British and four Canadian formations, each equipped with historically accurate destroyers and corvettes. The game is also designed to integrate with The Hunters for players wishing to link convoy escort operations with submarine warfare.

Atlantic Sentinels delivers a tense and highly replayable solo experience, challenging players to minimise convoy losses while aggressively hunting U-boats under constant pressure. With short individual missions or a full career spanning months of operations, the game offers both quick sessions and extended campaigns that reward careful planning and disciplined command.
