Warhammer 40,000: Combat Patrol – Adeptus Custodes brings together an elite fighting force of the Emperor's personal guardians, combining exceptionally resilient infantry, swift aerial warriors, and a devastating Dreadnought into a compact but formidable army. This boxed set contains 11 multipart plastic Adeptus Custodes miniatures, providing an excellent starting point for a new collection or a valuable addition to an existing force. Designed to form a complete army for Combat Patrol games of Warhammer 40,000, this set offers a versatile selection of units capable of dominating the battlefield through superior martial skill, advanced weaponry, and extraordinary durability.

The Adeptus Custodes are the Emperor of Mankind's most trusted guardians, genetically engineered warriors whose abilities surpass even those of the mighty Space Marines. Each Custodian is an individual masterpiece of genetic science, equipped with weapons and armour of unparalleled craftsmanship. Unlike the vast armies of the Astra Militarum or the numerous Chapters of the Adeptus Astartes, the Custodes deploy in comparatively small numbers. However, every warrior possesses the strength, speed, resilience, and fighting skill to overcome many times their number.

Organised into elite formations known as Shield Companies, the Adeptus Custodes undertake missions of exceptional importance throughout the Imperium. Whether defending sacred Imperial sites, eliminating threats to the Emperor, or seizing strategically vital objectives, these warriors rely upon carefully coordinated attacks and overwhelming individual superiority to achieve victory. Their formations combine heavily armoured infantry with specialised units capable of responding rapidly to changing battlefield conditions.

Combat Patrol: Adeptus Custodes captures this distinctive approach to warfare by combining a powerful Shield-Captain, a resilient Sentinel Guard Sodality, highly mobile Venatari, and an imposing Contemptor Dreadnought. Together, these units provide a balanced force with the ability to engage enemies at range, dominate close combat, respond to emerging threats, and hold important objectives against determined opposition.

Lead Your Warriors with a Shield-Captain

At the head of this elite formation stands a Shield-Captain, an experienced commander whose exceptional abilities and battlefield judgement have earned them a position of leadership among the Ten Thousand. Shield-Captains are accomplished warriors capable of directing their fellow Custodians while personally confronting some of the most dangerous enemies of the Imperium.

The Shield-Captain miniature offers a choice of a tall helmet or a bare head, allowing hobbyists to personalise the appearance of their commander. Whether painted in the traditional gold of the Emperor's guardians or an alternative Custodes colour scheme, this miniature provides a distinctive centrepiece for the force.

Hold the Line with the Sentinel Guard Sodality

The infantry core of the Combat Patrol consists of 6 Sentinel Guard Sodality miniatures, heavily armoured Custodians equipped with Praesidium Shields and Sentinel Blades. These warriors combine exceptional defensive capabilities with deadly close-combat weapons, making them well suited to advancing upon important objectives and holding ground against powerful enemy attacks.

Their Praesidium Shields provide an imposing visual appearance, reflecting the Custodes' ability to withstand attacks that would overwhelm lesser warriors. Armed with Sentinel Blades, the Sentinel Guard are equally capable of delivering devastating strikes once the enemy closes to melee range.

One member of the unit can exchange their Praesidium Shield for a Magisterium Vexilla, an important symbol of authority and martial tradition within the Adeptus Custodes. This warrior can be assembled wielding either a Sentinel Blade or a Misericordia in their left hand, providing additional modelling options.

The Sentinel Guard kit includes an extensive selection of interchangeable components, allowing hobbyists to give each warrior a distinctive appearance. There are 13 interchangeable heads, comprising 6 helmeted and 7 bare heads, along with 6 interchangeable helmet plumes and 6 interchangeable shields. These options provide opportunities to create a cohesive but individually detailed unit of the Emperor's finest infantry.

Strike Swiftly with the Venatari

Providing speed and tactical flexibility are 3 Venatari, elite Custodes warriors equipped with advanced jump harnesses that allow them to rapidly reposition across the battlefield. These highly mobile fighters specialise in swift assaults, disruption tactics, and responding to threats that slower infantry formations may struggle to counter.

The Venatari can be assembled with Kinetic Destroyers and Tarsus Bucklers, combining ranged weaponry with protective equipment, or alternatively equipped with two-handed Verutum Lances for a different battlefield appearance and fighting style. These weapon options allow players to customise their miniatures according to their preferred army composition and visual theme.

Each Venatari can also carry an optional Neutronium Cascade Mine on their hip, while one miniature can be assembled holding one of these dangerous devices in its hand. These additional details provide further opportunities to personalise the unit and create dynamic models that reflect the Venatari's specialised battlefield role.

The kit also contains a generous selection of interchangeable components, including 5 heads, 3 Tarsus Bucklers, 4 jump harnesses, 6 left shoulder pads, and 6 right shoulder pads. Combined with their distinctive airborne equipment, these options make the Venatari an appealing unit for both collectors and miniature painters.

Unleash the Power of a Contemptor Dreadnought

The heaviest unit in the Combat Patrol is a formidable Contemptor Dreadnought, an ancient and powerful war machine that combines exceptional protection with devastating offensive capabilities. These revered engines of war allow grievously wounded Custodes warriors to continue serving the Emperor, encased within heavily armoured mechanical bodies equipped with advanced weapons.

The kit can be assembled as either a Contemptor-Achillus Dreadnought or a Contemptor-Galatus Dreadnought, providing two distinctive configurations from the same set of components.

The Contemptor-Achillus carries an imposing spear designed for devastating close-combat engagements. The kit includes a choice of 2 spear heads, allowing hobbyists to vary the appearance of this formidable weapon. The Achillus can also be equipped with a selection of arm-mounted weapons, including Lastrum Storm Bolters, Twin Infernus Incinerators, or Adrathic Combi-destructors. An optional open or closed left hand provides further modelling flexibility.

Alternatively, the kit can be assembled as the Contemptor-Galatus, equipped with a powerful Warblade and Praesidium Shield. This configuration presents an imposing combination of offensive and defensive equipment, creating a heavily armoured warrior capable of confronting dangerous opponents in close combat.

Both Dreadnought patterns are highly poseable, allowing hobbyists to create dynamic stances suitable for an advancing assault, defensive position, or dramatic battlefield confrontation. The kit also includes numerous cosmetic options, including 2 helmet facemasks, 2 helmet tops, 2 sculpted shoulder pad decorations, 2 chest decorations, and optional pteruges.

With its ornate armour, sophisticated weapons, and imposing mechanical form, the Contemptor Dreadnought provides an impressive centrepiece for the Combat Patrol and an excellent opportunity for detailed miniature painting.

A Complete Combat Patrol Force

When assembled together, these 11 miniatures form a complete Adeptus Custodes force for Combat Patrol games of Warhammer 40,000. Combat Patrol provides a streamlined way to experience Warhammer 40,000 using compact, predefined armies, making it particularly suitable for players starting a new faction or those looking for tactical battles with smaller forces.

The combination of durable Sentinel Guard, a capable Shield-Captain, fast-moving Venatari, and a powerful Contemptor Dreadnought provides a varied collection of units that reflects the distinctive fighting style of the Adeptus Custodes. Their elite nature means that every model represents a valuable asset, rewarding careful positioning, coordinated attacks, and effective use of the force's different capabilities.

For players expanding beyond Combat Patrol, the miniatures also provide a strong foundation for a larger Adeptus Custodes army. Additional infantry, specialised units, characters, and vehicles can be added over time to develop a force capable of participating in larger Warhammer 40,000 battles.

Extensive Customisation and Painting Opportunities

With 507 plastic components, this boxed set provides substantial modelling flexibility. The various weapon choices, interchangeable heads, shields, armour decorations, and Dreadnought configurations allow hobbyists to personalise their miniatures and create an army with a distinctive appearance.

The Adeptus Custodes are particularly rewarding to paint thanks to their elaborate armour and ceremonial detailing. Traditional colour schemes feature brilliant gold armour, rich red fabrics, polished weapons, and carefully applied decorative markings. Alternative schemes can also be used to represent different Shield Hosts, including darker armour finishes, contrasting metallic colours, and distinctive heraldic details.

Also included is an Adeptus Custodes Transfer Sheet containing 210 high-quality waterslide transfers. These feature Custodian symbols, honour markings, script, and other decorative elements that can be applied to the miniatures to give the force a cohesive and suitably prestigious appearance.

Whether you're beginning your first Adeptus Custodes collection, expanding an existing army, or looking for a compact but visually impressive Warhammer 40,000 force, Combat Patrol: Adeptus Custodes offers an excellent selection of elite warriors and advanced war machines.
