Description

World at War #28: Green Hell – Burma 1942–1945 transports players to the unforgiving jungles of Burma during the height of World War II. Using the popular Fire & Movement system from the DG Folio Series, this two-player wargame recreates two pivotal engagements between Allied and Japanese forces: Operation Thursday and The Battle of the Admin Box. Each scenario challenges players to master logistics, mobility, and survival in one of the most hostile theatres of the war.

  • Operation Thursday: Experience the daring British gliderborne assault deep behind Japanese lines in March 1944. Ordered by General Slim, General Wingate’s Chindit forces land in the Burmese wilderness to support General Stilwell’s advance toward Myitkyina, a vital strategic objective in the Allied Burma campaign.
  • The Battle of the Admin Box: Relive the tense Japanese encirclement of the Indian 7th Infantry Division’s headquarters area at Sinzweya. Forming the now-legendary “Admin Box,” the trapped defenders fought off repeated assaults, buying time for reinforcements from the Indian 26th and British 36th Divisions to counterattack.
  • Fire & Movement System: The streamlined yet detailed combat system captures the fluidity of jungle warfare—where coordination, morale, and terrain are as critical as firepower. Each decision can determine whether your troops advance, hold, or collapse under pressure.
  • Dynamic Scenarios: Both included battles test players’ ability to balance aggression and defence, manage limited resources, and adapt to unpredictable conditions in the dense, unforgiving terrain of Southeast Asia.

Each scenario highlights the contrasting styles of warfare between the Japanese and Allied forces—mobility and infiltration versus coordination and air support. The inclusion of two distinct operations provides excellent replay value and historical depth, allowing players to explore both offensive and defensive challenges faced in the Burma campaign.
